The purpose of this blog is to determine if it possible to print straight from an IPad to a non Airprint, non Wi-Fi printer.
Background:
A number of people may want to print to a fully portable device, such as the HP Officejet 100 Mobile Printer
whilst on the road. This is a lovely little portable printer which is battery powered. Unfortunately, whilst it has USB and bluetooth, it does not have 802.11 capabilities and therefore cannot be "airprint" compatible.
Ipad Restrictions
IPads can only natively print to AirPrint enabled devices. There is no printing possible over Bluetooth and no hard wired solutions exist either.
However, some apps can get around the above restrictions such as "Print N Share" "ePrint" and "PrinterShare" to varying degrees of success. Some of these solutions require a PC/Mac in between the IPad and printer to act as a translator. In our scenario this is not possible without taking a PC with you.
Device Restrictions
At the moment, there are no Airprint enabled fully portable devices (i.e. nothing with airprint, wifi, and a battery. In fact the list of Airprint enabled devices is very small.
